Concrete Countertops in Calgary & Okotoks

Handcrafted by a Red Seal Carpenter & CCI-Trained Artisan Using Custom Mix Designs

Concrete countertops aren’t manufactured—they’re crafted. Every slab is templated, cast in-shop, reinforced, polished, sealed, and installed with precision. As a Red Seal Carpenter trained at the Concrete Countertop Institute (CCI) under Jeff Girard, I engineer and finish every piece to the highest standards in the industry.

We use custom mix designs for every project, incorporating Jeff Girard’s GFRC methodology and SureCrete professional-grade products and sealers for unmatched durability and finish quality.

Why Homeowners Choose Our Concrete Countertops

Custom Mix Designs for Every Project

We never use a single “standard” mix. Each countertop receives a project-specific formula based on:

  • Alberta aggregates

  • GFRC fibers

  • SureCrete polymers & admixtures

  • optimized water/cement ratios

  • required reinforcement levels

  • finish requirements (cream, polished, recycled glass)

  • temperature & humidity conditions

Every mix is engineered using Jeff Girard’s proven GFRC methodology, ensuring exceptional strength, consistency, workability, and long-term performance. These engineered mixes allow far better color stability, polishing clarity, and crack control than conventional concrete.

Venetian Plaster Finishing Influence

Gives your countertop a warm, soft, refined surface feel that sets artisan concrete apart from machine-finished materials.

Aesthetic & Emotional Benefits

Authentic, Warm, Natural Beauty

Concrete delivers a soft matte texture, subtle movement, custom edges, and a natural presence that complements modern and traditional homes alike.

A Material With Emotional Presence

Clients often describe their countertops as “belonging to the house” or “functional art.” Concrete anchors a space in a way quartz cannot.

Specialty aggregates require careful placement, clear matrix mixes, and extended polishing.

Why Fiber Optics Add Cost

Each strand is hand-placed and protected throughout casting and polishing.

Engineered for Alberta Homes

Every countertop is engineered specifically for Alberta homes so it performs in our climate, not just in a showroom.

Freeze–Thaw Stability

Air-entrained, polymer-modified GFRC formulations are engineered to withstand Alberta’s rapid freeze–thaw cycles, temperature swings, and seasonal shifts without compromising strength, appearance, or surface integrity.

Load-Bearing & Carpentry Reinforcement

A Red Seal carpenter evaluates spans, overhangs, cabinet structure, and support points so the countertop is fully reinforced, properly supported, and engineered for long-term stability and safety.

Heat Performance

Concrete handles heat exceptionally well. Properly engineered mixes tolerate hot pots, baking sheets, and day-to-day kitchen temperatures better than typical laminate or resin-based countertop materials.

SureCrete Sealer Systems

We use SureCrete penetrating, hybrid, and polyurethane sealers, chosen according to how you cook, clean, and live in the space, giving your countertop excellent stain resistance, moisture control, and a long-lasting finish.

Engineered for Modern Alberta Homes

Today’s homes move, breathe, and change with the seasons. We design our countertops to work with the structure, not against it. By evaluating substrate rigidity, humidity levels, HVAC patterns, and cabinet composition, we ensure the slab handles natural home movement without stress. This engineering-first approach is why our countertops perform reliably in both new builds and older homes that may shift slightly over time.

Professional Process — Clean, Controlled & Shop-Cast

Our Process

Our shop-based process keeps your home clean and ensures every step is handled with precision from the first measurement to the final wipe-down.

Precision templating

We measure walls, cabinets, and appliances so the slab fits perfectly and overhangs feel comfortable and natural to use.

Custom engineered mix design

Using Jeff Girard’s GFRC methods and SureCrete products, we design a project-specific mix for strength, colour stability, and polishing performance.

Reinforcement layout

GFRC layers and targeted reinforcement around sinks, joints, and overhangs keep the countertop solid and resistant to structural cracking under real daily use.

Controlled shop casting

All pieces are poured and cured in a climate-controlled shop, which means cleaner edges, consistent results, and absolutely no wet concrete work in your home.

Finishing, polishing, and sealing

Surfaces are hand-troweled, progressively polished, and sealed with a SureCrete system chosen to match your finish preference and lifestyle.

Professional installation

The finished slab is delivered, set, leveled, and secured like a high-end quartz installation, with a final inspection before we leave your home.

Professional Process — Clean, Controlled & Shop-Cast

All of our countertops and integrated sinks are cast, cured, polished, and sealed in a controlled shop environment—never inside your home. This ensures cleaner edges, better curing conditions, more consistent finishing, and absolutely no construction mess on-site. Once completed, each slab is delivered and installed with the same precision and cleanliness as a high-end quartz countertop. This shop-cast process guarantees higher quality control, better consistency between pieces, and a smoother, stress-free experience for homeowners.

Integrated Concrete Sinks

Our integrated concrete sinks are cast as one seamless piece with the countertop, creating a watertight, sculptural basin with no joints or caulk lines to fail over time. Each sink is shaped by hand and reinforced as part of the slab using engineered GFRC methods. Styles include trough sinks, ramp drains, single or double basins, and custom kitchen-integrated options. Because the sink and counter share the same mix design, reinforcement, and sealer system, the finished result is stronger, smoother, and visually cleaner than any drop-in or undermount sink could ever achieve.

Artistic Features & Custom Design Options

Artistic concrete opens the door to signature finishes that set your space apart. We offer recycled glass, crushed mirror, gemstones, crystals, and mother-of-pearl inlays, each placed intentionally to complement the movement of the slab. Fibre optic lighting can also be embedded below the surface, creating soft illumination at night for bars and entertainment areas. These artistic upgrades require advanced GFRC techniques, specialty mixes, and extended polishing stages, resulting in a one-of-a-kind surface that blends craftsmanship, engineering, and personal expression.

Outdoor Concrete Countertops

Outdoor countertops are engineered specifically for Alberta’s freeze-thaw cycles, UV exposure, and seasonal movement. We use air-entrained, polymer-modified GFRC mixes, outdoor-rated pigments, and SureCrete sealers designed for long-term weather resistance. Proper ventilation, reinforcement mapping, and substrate evaluation ensure your countertop stands up to heat from BBQ units, moisture changes, and daily outdoor use. The result is a durable, low-maintenance surface ideal for outdoor kitchens, bars, pergolas, and entertainment spaces.

Portfolio

Our portfolio showcases a range of completed projects throughout Calgary, Okotoks, and surrounding areas, highlighting the craftsmanship and technical care that go into each countertop we build. You’ll see examples of polished finishes, recycled glass mixes, integrated sinks, outdoor installations, and custom artistic features that reflect each homeowner’s style. Real Reviews From Calgary & Okotoks Homeowners

— Sandra R., Silverado

“Our concrete island is the favorite part of our entire renovation. Mike walked us through every detail and explained how his mixes are engineered for Alberta’s climate, which immediately set him apart from the other companies we met with. The polished finishing on the surface feels warm and smooth, not cold like stone. The installation was spotless and done exactly when he said it would be. We recommend him to anyone wanting a truly custom countertop.”

Basement Bar
— Jason P., Marda Loop

“We wanted something unique for our basement bar, and the fiber optic concrete countertop Mike built is absolutely unreal. The glow at night is subtle and elegant, not gimmicky, and the finish quality is flawless. He explained the GFRC reinforcement, SureCrete sealing, and custom mix design in a way we could understand, and the final result exceeded every expectation. Hands down the best contractor we’ve worked with.”
